Data privacy policy

We take data privacy seriously and we will not share your personal data with any other individual or organisation without your permission unless required to do so by law.

1.   Introduction

Obidos Consulting needs to collect and use certain types of information about the Individuals who come into contact with Obidos Consulting in order to carry on our work. This personal information is collected and dealt with appropriately.

2.   Data Controller

Obidos Consulting is the Data Controller for the personal data it collects, which means that it determines what purposes personal information held, will be used for. It is also responsible for notifying the Information Commissioner of the data it holds or is likely to hold, and the general purposes that this data will be used for.

3.   Disclosure

Obidos Consulting will not share your personal data without asking you first and gaining your permission.

The persona data we are likely to collect is very limited and unlikely to include anything other than your personal details, employer and job title.

There are circumstances where the law allows Obidos Consulting to disclose data (including sensitive data) without the data subject’s consent. These include: situations where we are required to disclose data by law;  conducting any legal proceedings, obtaining legal advice or defending any legal rights; and situations where the individual has already made the information public

4.   Processing data

Obidos Consulting adheres to the Principles of Data Protection, as detailed in the Data Protection Act 1998. Specifically, the Principles require that personal information:

  1. Shall be processed fairly and lawfully

  2. Shall be obtained and processed only for a lawful purpose

  3. Shall be adequate, relevant and not excessive in relation to those purpose(s)

  4. Shall be accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date,

  5. Shall not be kept for longer than is necessary

  6. Shall be processed in accordance with the rights of data subjects

  7. Shall be kept secure

  8. Shall not be transferred to a country or territory outside the UK unless that country ensures an adequate level of protection for the rights and freedoms of Individuals in relation to the processing of personal information

5.   Your rights

We process personal data in order to be able to communicate with prospects and clients and as part of projects we run. The legal basis for processing an individual’s personal data is legitimate interest.

We do not obtain personal data from third parties by buying lists. We do on occasion  research online to identify people who may be interested in talking to us. We do also sometimes receive recommendations from other individuals for people to talk to.

Personal data is not shared outside Obidos Consulting without the permission of the individual concerned.

We keep personal data for a maximum of 7 years for legal reasons, or, where the data is concerned with employment, in perpetuity unless asked by the individual concerned to delete this data. Doing this means we will be unable to provide references.

An individual data subjects has the following rights:

  • The right to withdraw their consent at any time for us to process their data (where relevant)

  • The right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority who are the ICO and who can be reached at https://ico.org.uk/global/contact-us/
